Brassica oleracea Acephala Click Extra Images: pic 1	Popular as a ‘mixed salad ingredient’ for its distinctive dark green colour and pleasant peppery taste when young, this plant looks spectacular when mature,with excellent winter hardiness, it will supply fresh winter greens when they can often be scarce. Long season of harvest, sow March-August for ‘Salad Leaves’ sow March-June for mature plants. This plant prefers a moist, rich, well-drained soil. Sow seed thinly in a well prepared seedbed, 12mm (1/2in) deep in drills 23cm (9in) apart. Plants can be left unthinned for ‘salad leaves’. Ideally fleece against caterpillars and aphids. Transplant when large enough to handle, about 5 weeks from sowing, to 45cm (18in) between plants each way. Plant firmly and keep well watered.  Overall Quality Value No reviews exist.
