We told you it was quick!
Fancy a cuppa? Who doesn't, but waiting for the kettle to boil is a right bore. Thankfully the groundbreaking Tefal QuickCup is here and it delivers hot water in 3 seconds. You heard, 3 seconds! That's about the same amount of time it takes to say 'Isn't Firebox fantastic?' Astonishing.
The science bit
So how does this sleek gizmo work? Easy, just press the red button and mind-boggling 'Opti-Quick' technology sends enough water for one brew up the QuickCup's heating element in a spiral movement, heating it immediately as it travels. Simply program the QuickCup to dispense the perfect amount of water for your favourite cup. This means it doesn't waste energy heating water you don't need. Tailor made H20? Suits you, sir! In fact QuickCup provides an energy saving of up to 65% compared to a standard kettle, helping you save on leccy bills and reduce your pesky carbon footprint. Pass the biccies.
Twist the water filter into place
Just think, with a QuickCup in your home or office you can make coffee, tea, instant noodles, packet soups or anything else that requires hot water in a flash. Incidentally, notice we said hot, not boiling. That's because the QuickCup heats water to around 85 degrees, which is hot but not so hot that you have to wait five minutes before it's drinkable - perfect for the fast-paced, I-want-it-yesterday Noughties.
Choose hot or cool filtered water
Even if hot drinks aren't your thing, the QuickCup is ideal for fans of filtered water. Just press the black button and your tap water is instantly filtered through the pump. You can then add ice and a slice or a splash of your favourite squash. You can even store the removable water-filled tank in the fridge before filtering and dispensing. This speedy triumph of technology makes the whistling kettles of yesteryear seem like ancient artefacts. Indeed it makes most of today's hi-tech kitchen accessories seem terribly passé. Still not convinced? Consider this: by the time you've read this page we could have made around fifty hot cuppas. One lump or two?

This is a fantastic idea! Extremely low on energy usage and is quick and simple. I use this product everyday. Great buy.

Fantastic, no waiting for the kettle to boil, great if you get up late as you still have time for a quick brew! And as its not boiling you can drink without having to wait for it to cool.
Andrea Scott, Winsford Cheshire - Dec '07 |
This is great for people who struggle to lift a kettle like I do - I press the button and while the water pours in go get the milk, and by the time I get it, the cup of tea is ready! - fantastic buy, and our friends and relatives have all started buying them too.

Wow ok I like a nice cuppa just like the next man 20 years ago if you told my mam that she would be able to make a nice cuppa tea quicker than she can boil a egg she would have said ive gone mad. Let me guess your saying to your self yes "but I bet its not boiling hot" WRONG "well I bet it dont taste the same" right it taste so much better no bad taste as the water is filtered fresh is like a cuppa with natural spring water"well I bet it cost more to run"wrong u save money evern by buyinig the filters I know your saying this cos I said the same thing but to be honest its the best thing since sliced bread.

This is a brilliant bit of kit for those who can't wait for a conventional kettle to boil. However I have one criticism and that is the water is not quite hot enough! Otherwise a good buy.
Matt, Leicester - Dec '07 |
I agree with Matt, it doesn't boil water hot enough, and its noisy when pouring water as the lid rattles, but its good for me as am part sighted so its safer than a kettle.
Graham Walton, Bingley - Jan '08 |
A superb idea that does exactly what it says on the box. The filter seating arrangement however is of a very poor design and lets this otherwise brilliant product down with its flimsiness and susceptibility to breaking. I know of no less than three people that have snapped off one of the three extremely inadequate locating lugs when trying to fit the filter, myself being one of them. Luckily the filter will still successfully seat with the remaining two. I suspect others will also have this problem so buyers beware!

Hmmm, not sure about the energy saving claims.
My kettle can boil one cup of water in 80 seconds and it takes about 35 seconds to get the same from the quickcup. The quick cup can only make 6 cups before you have to let it rest for 10 minutes!! So rubbish for making lots of drinks at the same time. Also it runs at 2. 8kW where as the kettle runs at 2. 2kW. Using 15p/kWh and 6 cups per day it will take 6. 3 years for payback. You also have to buy the filters and de-scale every 2 months or so. Close but no cigar.
