Verdi's opera opens in ancient Jerusalem as King Nabucco of Babylon invades and ransacks the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Installed by Nabucco to rule Jerusalem his daughter Fenena falls in love and decides to free her father's prisoners. Meanwhile Abigaille a jealous slave plans to steal the crown of Jerusalem for herself. This live performance of Verdi's lavish story was filmed in the spectacular open air setting of the famous Roman quarry in St. Margarethen. Exquisite lighting and the unique atmosphere of one of Europe's biggest open air music venues combine to create a magnificent operatic production.The opera in four acts features the Junge Philharmonic Wien and the musical director is Michael Lessky. DVD special highlights include interviews and the `making of' Nabucco.
