The film follows the story of Kerns journey to England where he meets the future Mrs Kern (Dorothy Patrick). On his return to New York he encounters Oscar Hammerstein II (Paul Langton) and Marilyn Miller (Judy Garland) who collaborate together on the hit musical SUNNY followed by the legendary Broadway smash, SHOWBOAT.
