It begins with the finest growing region in Mexico. High in the mountains of Jalisco exists a region which allows with perfect soil and climate which allows the sugar and acid balances of the Weaber Tequilana Blue Agave to mature and produce an 'Agave Pina' unequalled elsewhere in the world. Like premium wine grapes, the sugar acid balance must be perfect before harvest. Patron tequilas are the only tequilas truly produced in the traditional handmade fashion. After harvest the 'pina' are carefully selected, trimmed and then slowly steam baked. When cooked to perfection the 'pina' is macerated with large, natural, stone-milling wheels. The fermentation is done with the fiber of the 'pina' which helps impart its unique flavour and smoothness. After a double distillation process the tequila is aged in small oak barrels. When properly aged the tequila is fine filtered and ready for careful hand bottling. Each bottle is invidually signed and given a unique bottle number due to the limited number produced.

The colour is red-amber. The perfumed nose reveals sherry and pear skin hints. The taste is very marked by sherry and reveals malt and vanilla impressions. It is sweet, from pear to spicy dryness. The finish is long and perfumed, rich and spicy.

Ceramic flagons like this one, but slightly larger having a capacity of one-Imperial gallon, were used to carry and store rum on board ships of Great Britain's Royal Navy from the late 1800's through July 31st, 1970 on which date the daily issue of rum was terminated. The navy's flagons were encased in a tightly hand-woven willow basket to reduce breakage, whereas this Pusser's version has been decorated to salute one of the world's greatest fighting admirals, Horatio Nelson. Two hundred years following the event that created it, the term 'Nelson's Blood' still remains a vital part of the lexicon of the seaman and the Royal Navy - in continuous service since the days of Henry VIII from the year 1525. Around the neck of the decanter is the famous signal that set the seal to Nelson's fame. Just before engaging the enemy at the Battle at Trafalgar on October 21st, 1805, he flew this signal, 'England expects that every man will do his duty'. The stopper design includes the Killick's Anchor, the symbolic anchor of the seaman as designated by the Admiralty. It is a very old design for which the etymology is not known. Its unique design has long been associated with the jack tars of the Royal Navy and sailors everywhere in the world.

Poured into old barrels in 1998, this old vintage La Mauny 1998 is characterized by the complexity of its aromas, fruit of double ageing process.

The Islay representative in the 'Classic Malts' series is a deep, dry and exceptionally peaty bruiser. Probably the most pungent of all Islay malts, Lagavulin is not for the faint-hearted but inspires fanatical devotion in its many followers. Nose. Lapsang Souchong and fruity sherry. Palate. The dryness is at first offset by the sweetness of the sherry character. As the palate develops, oily, grassy and, in particular, salt emerges in a long, sustained, aggressive attack. Finish. A huge, powerful, bear-hug of peat. The driest of Islay malts, and an established classic.

The vale of Yamazaki at Tennozan Mountiain on the outskirts of Kyoto was the birthplace of Japanese Whiskey. The malt whiskey produced at the Yamazaki Distillery, with a tradition dating back to 1923, has slept through a long cycle of Japan's colourful seasons - the brightness of spring, the luxuriant green of summer, the vermillion foliage of autumn, and the white blanket of winter. Pure malt whiskey 'Yamazaki' uses only 100% malt whiskies of at least 12 years old. Radiant and noble, it's flavour is full-bodied and mellow, and the distinctive woody taste of mature malt indices a pleasant, lingering aftertaste. The nose is light with summer fruits and a spiciness. The flavour is sweet and spicy with a body, mainly on the top of your toungue and with a long finish.

Their 18 year old is encased in a smoked brown glass bottle with dual labelling to differentiate it from the younger 12 year old sibling. Its gift tube is seaweed green in colour with a subtle but distinct illustration of Bunnahabhain's bay on the front. This beautiful golden spirit's nose releases honeyed nuts and a slightly sea-induced salty tang. Rich toffee and leathery oak aromas can be sensed upon further inspection. The palate is influenced by mellow sherried nuts and shavings of the finest natural oak wood. Olmeca Tezon Anejo: Aged for 18 to 20 months. Colour: Golden amber. Nose: Caramel, butterscotch, smoky vanilla and a robust orange peel aroma. Colour Straw Gold Nose The initial impression is of eating Ardbeg ice cream on the beach - the combination of sea spray, creamy vanilla ice cream infused with hints of peat oil, finished with a drizzle of gooey fudge sauce. Cutting through this luscious sweetness is an exciting assortment of fennel and pine nuts, zesty limes and sherbet with a touch of geranium leaves and lavender. Adding Water Adding water intensifies the heather smokiness and peat oils detected earlier, but it is the wonderful fruit salad aromas that are released that make the greatest impact- ripe, juicy summer fruits of kiwi melon and strawberries combined with the slight tartness of blackberries and plum skins topped with raisin chocolate enveloped by soft heather smoke and sweet peat. Taste Definitely Ardbeg on the taste with peat, seaweed bonfire smokiness. Crispy smoky bacon, maple syrup and antiseptic lozenges leave a peppery and oily feel on the palate. Sweet and fruity flavours of ripe autumn fruits and chocolate limes emerge as notes of black coffee, liquorice and reminders of parma violets linger in the background. Elijah Craig 18-year-old Single Barrel Bourbon, the oldest Single Barrel Bourbon available in the world, is bottled soley from one barrel hand-selected by Master Distiller Parker Beam. Only a handful of the millions of barrels of Bourbon aging in Kentucky have been allowed to mature this long. The brand is named for Rev. Elijah Craig, the man who discovered the method of making true Kentucky Bourbon when he stored his wares in barrels that had been charred by fire. Bon Appetit magazine describes this Single Barrel as 'rich and complex, a whiskey suggestive of a fine Cognac.' Dave Broom, Handbook of Whisky writes, 'Almost heathery nose, with some saddle soap/leather and rich nuttiness. Soft, rich fruit on the palate and a balancing spicy pepperiness. Excellent. A rating of five stars.'

Colour: Yellow - straw. Tasting notes, undiluted. Nose: Dry grass, hay like with malty cereal notes. A little floral element and a build up of citrus fruits. alate: Dry, spicy flavours initially - cedar wood and roasted malt. A sweet, vanilla note develops - iced wedding cake. With water: Nose: Floral - heather and roses. An earthy spiciness together with a touch of charred oak. Again the fruity note comes late. Palate: Slightly smoky with a hint of spices. Toasted malt and some leathery flavours. Body: Light. Finish: Malty with a hint of fruit. Cask type: Refill American Hogsheads. Style: A pleasant. Easy drinking malt.

This is a Highland Single Malt. The 1988 is a light refreshing malt that exhibits all the quaffable characteristics of the Tullibardine family. With hints of vanilla on the nose and white chocolate in the finish.

Matured for 18 years in bourbon casks then in Willi Opitz Zweigelt Trochen Beeren Auslese sweet, fruity, red pinot wine casks. Incredibly fruity flavour - both complex and sophisticated. Very rich and viscous mouth feel and smooth finish. Casks selected by Master Distiller Jim McEwan. Non chill filtered, colouring free. The most authentic Islay malt - the only Islay malt to be bottled on Islay using Islay Spring water.

Extra ageing has calmed the impact of the phenols, with the peat arriving on the palate late, and tempered by smooth oak. A very mellow, mature Islay malt. Tasting Notes from The Distiller's Colour.
