Dalwhinnie 1990 Distillers Edition (finished in Oloroso sherry casks). Nose: Sweet & grainy. Smells like a blend, actually. It moves in an oilier direction for a while. Give it time, though - it becomes spicier with just a hint of organics after some breathing. Taste: Relatively gritty and not potent enough to lift the overall score above average.

Established in 1798 on Orkney, Highland Park is the most northerly Scotch whisky distillery in the world. Highland Park has a very subtle smoky flavour, with only 4 parts per million of phenol compared to 50 ppm for some of its peers. It is one of only five distilleries in Scotland that still use traditional 'floor malting,' where the 'green' or germinated malt is spread manually on a perforated steel floor and dried slowly over a peat fire. After distillation it is matured in a mixture of plain oak casks and used sherry casks which add a sweetness and complexity to the whisky's flavour. Because Orkney's temperatures are cool and nearly constant throughout the year, the whisky doesn't soak as deeply into the oak of the casks during aging as it would farther south. This results in a gentle aging process with a less 'woody' flavour. U'Luvka is distilled in small batches, by craftsmen, from the finest Polish rye, wheat and barley. It is fresh, clean and elegant on the nose, with distinct floral notes. Nose - A full-bodied malt with aromas of raisin, green apple and hints of banana and lemon. The American oak barrels, used in the distillate's maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. Colour - Balblair 1989 is mid-amber in appearance with honey-gold highlights. Taste - On the palate there are raisins and fruits with a rich spiciness leading to a long, complex and ultimately smooth finish.

Riserva 15 Anni is a prestigious bottling created to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the Nardini distillery in Bassano del Grappa. Launched in 2004, it became the first new product to be introduced by the distiller in 76 years. Aged for fifteen years in Slovanian oak, the grappa is soft and intense, with complex flavours bolstered by the remarkably long ageing period. Some say it is redolent of an Amagnac or even an Islay malt. Either way, it is very much a post-prandial grappa combining extremely well with strong dark cigars (wherever you may be allowed to do that sort of thing) Appearance: Deep golden colour, with amber reflections. Bouquet: Fragrant, distinct and full with overtones of wood and resin. Palate: Soft, intense and slightly sweet, complex aftertaste with hints of spice, vanilla and tobacco.

Created unashamedly for connoisseurs with some of the rarest malt whiskies found on Speyside. XQ Blanco is un-aged and made from 100% blue agave. The hand selected agave pina's are slow baked in a traditional oven which softens them ready to be crushed and the juice extracted. This Tequila has delicate, citrusy agave notes on the nose. The palate is smooth and tinged with white pepper. The finish is long and supple.
