DEWARS - Signature 70cl Bottle
£177.49
Dewar's Signature is the culmination of more than 150 years of blending tradition, yet few will ever be privileged to experience a whisky this sublime, this rarefied and this complex. At the heart of this blend is Aberfeldy Single Malt, aged beyond its years, adding distinction and maturity to the other fine and rare whiskies specially selected for Dewar's 'signature' style. The Marrying Process Only with the final extra 'marrying' in vintage oak casks, a stage both expensive and time consuming, do the individual whiskies harmonise so that the mellow flavour of Dewar's Signature can reach its exquisitely balanced maturity. Limited Edition Strictly limited quantities of Dewar's Signature are released, each bottle numbered by hand and its quality guaranteed unconditionally. Each bottle carries the Dewar signature and, with it, the reputation of generations. Deep golden amber. Sweet and balanced. Rich, fruity mellow notes of sultanas, raisins, apples and honey with vanilla and toffee overtones. Sweet and smooth with a full bodied creamy texture and mouth warming effect. Full bodied. Long and pleasant with a slightly dry finish.
GLENDRONACH - 33 Year Old 70cl Bottle
£199.95
The year was 1971 and it was a day like any other. The locally grown barley had been hand turned on their malting floor. The kiln was drying the malt with their (still secret) combination of peat and coal before their ancient porteus mill ground the grist to their master distiller's satisfaction. If you walked in there today (2005) the same pine washbacks would be fermenting the wash and of course their 'ball' stills would be creating their unique Glendronach spirit before its 'long sleep' in the sherry casks. But something was different that day, the weather perhaps, the particular batch of Oloroso sherry butts. Who knows, perhaps it was a combination of them all. Whatever the reason this batch of Glendronach was quickly marked out as something very special. What can be said is that sadly never again will we see the likes of this hand-made local Glendronach as today they have to source their barley from a wider area. This is truly history in a bottle. But what a bottle. 'The 33' is the finest expression of Glendronach ever made. The sherry butts have imparted their luscious flavour which is perfectly counter balanced by the classic fruitiness of the Glendronach spirit. The finish is long as you would expect, with that trademark hint of peat smoke that their kilns imparted all those years ago. To celebrate 'The 33' they they have specially commissioned a circular wood enclosure, hand made with a hand finished lacquer exterior, with a colour that matches the deep red hue of its precious contents. If you want to own and enjoy what Glendronach believe is the ultimate expression of a sherry matured, highland Scottish whisky from a bygone era, then we believe it is worth every penny. It is only available in a very few selected outlets worldwide.
